The IO Foundation is seeking dedicated volunteers worldwide to assist with our IT needs, including networking, virtual private servers (VPS), general infrastructure support and task automation/orchestration among others. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to apply their technical expertise in technology-driven nonprofit, while gaining valuable experience and making a meaningful contribution to a larger mission.

IMPORTANT: This opening is not a paid position. In accordance with Estonian Law and The IO Foundation's policies, volunteers can not be remunerated.

Responsibilities

Depending on the Focus Area of preference, the responsibilities may range from

• Assist in the setup, configuration and maintenance of networking equipment and infrastructure

• Support the management of VPS and cloud services, ensuring optimal performance and uptime

• Collaborate with team members to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise, providing timely support to staff and volunteers

• Document processes, configurations and issues to build a comprehensive knowledge base

• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving IT services within the organization

Qualifications | Requirements

• Preferably, at least 3 years of experience in the focus area of interest

• Able to commit to deliverables

• Strong knowledge of system administration for Linux and Windows environments

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently

• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

• Passion for and commitment to The IO Foundation's mission and values

• Previous experience in nonprofit or volunteer work is a plus but not required

Qualifications | Languages

• English fluent both oral and written

• Other languages will be a plus, in particular Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, French and Spanish

Other considerations

• Able to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment

• Willingness to travel locally and internationally, if needed.
