Job description
The IO Foundation (TIOF) invites enthusiastic and motivated students to submit their Expression of Interest (EoI) for upcoming internship opportunities aimed at supporting our mission of ensuring technology protects digital users by design. Interns will engage in hands-on tasks, collaborate with experienced professionals and gain valuable insights into the operations of an international nonprofit organization.
This submission is not a formal application but rather an opportunity to express your interest in working on a variety of impactful projects. Your EoI will assist us in prioritizing partnerships with your university and facilitating the availability of internship opportunities.
The following outlines the example requirements for internships that may become available in the future. While particulars may vary, these general criteria will help guide potential candidates as we open up opportunities.
Responsibilities
Interns will complete tasks based on project needs and university requirements, all under the guidance of The IO Foundation's members.
Examples of tasks could be:
Conduct research and analysis to support ongoing projects
Help organize events, workshops and outreach programs
Contribute to the creation of content for social media, newsletters and other communications
Collaborate with other interns and staff to promote teamwork and innovation
Participate in team meetings and provide input on project development
Perform administrative tasks as needed to support the organization
Build and maintain relationships with clients, partners and stakeholders
Qualifications | Requirements
Current enrollment in a degree program related to technology, business, nonprofit management or a related field
Strong interest in technology and its application for social good
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with different stakeholders
Familiarity with basic project management tools and software
Previous internship or volunteer experience is a plus, but not required
Knowledge and understanding of the tech industry and of the nonprofit/NGO sector is a plus, but not required
Passion for and commitment to The IO Foundation's mission and values
Qualifications | Languages
English fluent both oral and written
Other languages will be a plus, in particular Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, French and Spanish
Other considerations
Able to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to travel locally and internationally, if needed
Passport-ready

Engagement length: In accordance to internship agreement
Time commitment: In accordance to internship agreement
Allowance: As agreed with The IO Foundation and always in accordance to internship agreement
